Future Media Hubs

Future Media Hubs

Together with RTBF, VRT leads the international network Future Media Hubs, aimed at structural knowledge sharing and collaboration. This way, VRT can innovate efficiently and accelerate the impact of the latest technologies, both in Europe and within the organisation itself. To this end, the network facilitates collaborations between both public and commercial media organisations.

The Future Media Hubs brings together international partners to innovate within the following hubs:

Sandbox Hub

The Sandbox Hub connects start-ups, scale-ups and entrepreneurs with media organisations to scale their businesses and introduce new technologies in an international media ecosystem. The hub enabled more than 100 local start-up collaborations thus far.

The Sandbox Hub also exchanges knowledge on other diverse topics such as learntech, curation, ethics, cybersecurity, and more. At the same time, the hub enables the community to work together on strategic themes and facilitates new European funded projects that can reinforce the Sandbox Hub's ongoing activities. Examples of these are the projects STADIEM and MME.

Next Generation Hub

the goal of the Next Generation Hub is to put the user first and focus on content and innovation for audiences ranging from 12 to 34 years old. This Hub gives public and commercial media organisations a stage to exchange and collaborate on these new and innovative ideas with the aim to explore new ways to increase engagement in this age group. What kind of media do we make for our youth? In this Hub we discuss what they are actively looking for.
