An internship at Future Media Hubs means being immersed in a world of media innovation. You will come into contact with an international network of media organizations, led by VRT and RTBF,  that focus on innovation through collaboration. You will have a front row seat in projects that match start-ups with media organizations, focus on knowledge sharing across new technologies, introduce young digital talent, and introduce new innovation models to help transform an organization.


Future Media Hubs, what?

The main goal of the Future Media Hubs is to promote innovation and accelerate the development of the media industry together and their local ecosystems by facilitating collaborations between public and commercial media organizations. What kind of interns are we looking for?

  • You are a student or recently graduated in media/communication (- sciences) / event- or project management / marketing and you are looking for a fun internship.
  • You are passionate about (international) media and innovation.
  • You can work independently and proactively. You see work and you do not hesitate to engage in something.
  • You are a jack-of-all-trades and love a vibrant environment.
  • You speak and write fluent English and you also can speak a fair bit of French.
  • You are flexible and you do not have a 9-to-5 mentality.
  • You follow the latest digital trends closely and you have a good knowledge of social media.
  • You have a broad knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Plus point: you have some experience with one or more Adobe Creative Cloud programs like Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Premiere. Production skills are also a big plus.


As an intern at Future Media Hubs, part of VRT Innovation, you are responsible for:

  • Community building:

    • Internal = members specific:

      • Prepare and follow up monthly meetings & briefings

      • Structuring input for the calendar

      • Inspire existing members with relevant information

    • External= target group specific:

      • Selecting and identifying potential new members

      • Answer questions from (potential new) members and partners

      • Research and generate ideas for (online) campaigns (correct target groups, formats, content, ...)

      • If relevant: supporting other European innovation projects

  • Strategy:

    • Impact measurement and reporting per innovation hub

    • Assisting the launch of a new CRM tool 

    • If relevant: prepare partnerships presentations & documents

  • Events (virtual and onsite):

    • Substantive, communicative and logistical support per event:

      • Sharing opportunities with start-ups and / or international media companies

      • Impact measurement and evaluation per event

      • Dealing creatively with virtual alternatives

    • Select potential events for collaboration

  • Communication:

    • Assist with communications of Future Media Hubs (specific) and VRT Innovation (general):

      • Content creation - and distribution, both graphic and content (f.e. Articles, vlogs, podcasts ...)

      • Management and analysis of communication channels (f.e. social media, website, newsletter ...)

      • Follow-up of communication briefings and meetings
