Smart city project FLAME launches call for new media experiences using 5G

Within the FLAME project, VRT worked together with partners as Disney and Martel Innovate to develop a smart media infrastructure in which they could experiment with personalised, localised and interactive media applications. The project is now in its final phase and is looking for proposals from SMEs and startups for new media experiences that make use of 5G networks.

During the project, a smart city infrastructure has been developed in the cities of Barcelona, Bristol, Londen and Buseto Palizzolo. This platform allows media services to be better integrated in the city by means of dynamic network routing and more. Two calls have been launched for project proposals in order to evaluate and improve the infrastructure. One of these was the RAISE project, which implemented a new app that enables an Augmented Reality experience and connects digital content to the physical environment.

For the third and final call, the project is now looking for new project proposals from SMEs, startups and industries for new personalised, localised and interactive media applications that make use of 5G networks. Applications can be sent in from the 9th of August till early November. Projects can receive funding up to €100K and take place in one of the FLAME smart city environments in Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Discover more about the call on the FLAME website and during a Webinar on the 2nd of September.
